Melanie McNamara

Actor/Dancer/Singer for Theatre and Film

Get to Know Mel:

“I find only freedom in the realms of eccentricity”

- David Bowie

Melanie McNamara is a 22 year old actor, dancer, and musical theatre singer located in PA, NJ, and NYC! Melanie believes that life is a form of education. She believes in the ability to learn from every experience and production that she gets the chance to be involved in. She is constantly taking classes and workshops with loads of different people and styles of acting, dancing, and singing as Melanie wants to learn everything and anything she can. She tends to have the most fun throughout her career when she is given a challenge, so that she can expand upon and better herself as an artist. Therefore, whatever area of the performing arts she is put in, Melanie can take on anything. She is extremely hard working but not only for herself, she is hardworking for the sake of others. Melanie believes that her strongest attribute, not only as an actor/dancer but as a human being, is her compassion and empathy. She understands that theatre is a group project and everything Melanie does is with the consideration of her fellow performers in mind. Although an introvert at heart, Melanie becomes the most confident version of herself on stage and enjoys bonding with her fellow cast members. Melanie shows up to rehearsal obnoxiously early and with the biggest smile. Outside of the performing arts, she enjoys reading books with her cat Marshmallow, and she requires her martinis to have extra, EXTRA olive juice (It is simply an excuse to drink olive juice in public. Melanie really like olives).

I knew from Forum that you were a beautiful dancer with a strong stage presence but the callbacks for They Promised Her The Moon showed me that you are also an actress who makes bold choices. (That was evident in Tartuffe as well!) I loved that you tried different things each time you read during the callbacks. It shows that you are adventurous and willing to try things.” - Susie Speidel, Director of A Funny Thing Happened… at Plays In The Park.

“I was very impressed with your performance of Mariane: it was precise and committed.”- Dr. E. Teresa Choate, faculty member of Kean University’s theatre conservatory.
